Thanksgiving
Somehow I find myself far out of line
From the ones I had drawn
Wasn't the best of paths, you could attest to that,
But I'm keeping on.
Would our paths cross if every great loss
Had turned out our gain?
Would our paths cross if the pain it had cost us
Was paid in vain?
There was no pot of gold, hardly a rainbow
Lighting my way
But I will be true to the red, black and blues
That colored those days.
I owe my soul to each fork in the road,
Each misleading sign.
'Cause even in solitude, no bitter attitude
Can dissolve my sweetest find
Thanksgiving for every wrong move
That made it right.
Thanks to you, reading this now, for crossing paths with me over this past year. I'm grateful you've been around. It does mean something, I think, this brave new world, these brave new people, us.
I'm on the road today, as are many of us Americans. There's a longer post just below, for lengthier enjoyment. But I just wanted to say that. Ya'll are wonderful. Enjoy your day, everyone.

Happy Thanksgiving, Missy. Enjoy your meal, and imagine me imagining eating YOU for afters.
...several helpings, i think!

Karl Elvis: Hm, now *that's* a celebration I can get behind.
...and in front of, and underneath, and on top of... :-P
So okay, mister. You've got yourself a deal--so long as you imagine me imagining giving YOU thanks in return, the way one ought to on such a holiday. But then, I suspect any day with you would be a holiday...
(Suddenly "It's a Jolly Holiday with Mary" is stuck in my head...dammit!)
